California Eviction Process

The California Eviction Process requires that the landlord has given proper notice and if the tenant doesn’t voluntarily move out, the landlord can evict the tenant. In order to evict the tenant, the landlord must file an Unlawful Detainer Lawsuit in Superior Court.  In an eviction lawsuit, the landlord is called the “plaintiff” and the tenant(s) is called the “defendant.”

Having an understanding of what to expect can help you resolve your matters timely and efficiently. Here is a process map of the Eviction Process in California.
